Terex, UAW Settle Waverly

Terex Cranes announced today that they entered into a three-year contract with union employees.

Members of the United Auto Workers Local 411 reportedly returned to work this morning.

A press release from Koehring Cranes, which does buiness as Terex, said simply that the United Auto Workers entered into a three-year collective bargaining agreement and did not disclose the terms.

"We have a strong, three-year contract that balances the needs of our employees with the economic realities of today's highly competitive manufacturing industry. Koehring Cranes appreciates the leadership of the UAW local 411 negotiating committee and the mediation assistance provided by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS)," said Dave Stevenson, group vice president, human resources for Terex Corporation, in a press release.

UAW members went on strike in February after 120 floor assembly workers on Feb. 5, rejected a collective bargaining proposal from the company.

Did You Know?

Mediation may not be the most appropriate avenue for resolution in all cases.
For example, it may not be appropriate in cases where: A definitive or authoritative resolution of the matter is required; The matter involves or may bear upon significant questions of Government policy that require additional procedures before a final resolution may be made; Maintaining established policies that apply to many people is especially important; The matter significantly affects persons or groups who are not parties to the process; A full public record of the proceeding is important; or The agency must maintain continuing jurisdiction over the matter with authority to alter the disposition of the matter in light of changed circumstances.
